Equilia Group
Intro
Equilia Group is a leading fintech company specializing in fair and data-driven allocation of financial resources through technology. As a growing platform serving European markets, Equilia recognized the need to modernize their infrastructure to support continued growth and innovation. They partnered with GOStack to adopt cloud-native architecture and transform their development practices.
The Challenge
Legacy Infrastructure: Monolithic applications limiting development agility and deployment flexibility
Scalability Concerns: Need for infrastructure that could grow with their business expansion
Development Velocity: Desire to accelerate feature delivery and reduce time-to-market
Operational Efficiency: Manual deployment processes and infrastructure management overhead
Technology Modernization: Transition from traditional hosting to cloud-native practices
DevOps Maturity: Need for automated CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
Our Solution
Container Orchestration: Implemented Amazon EKS to orchestrate containerised applications, enabling microservices architecture and improved resource utilisation. The infrastructure uses a hybrid approach combining AWS Graviton processors (ARM-based architecture) for compute-intensive workloads and x86 instances for legacy components, delivering up to 40% better price-performance for migrated services. This transformation allowed Equilia's development teams to deploy and manage services independently.
Database Modernization: Migrated to Amazon RDS with proper backup strategies and high-availability configurations, providing a solid foundation for their financial data while reducing operational overhead.
Serverless Integration: Introduced AWS Lambda for event-driven processing, enabling Equilia to handle background tasks and integrations more efficiently without managing server infrastructure. Amazon API Gateway provides secure RESTful endpoints for triggering Lambda functions, managing webhook integrations with payment providers, and handling asynchronous processing workflows.
Global Content Delivery: Deployed Amazon CloudFront to deliver the fintech web application and API responses with low latency across European markets. CloudFront's edge locations ensure optimal performance for end users while caching static assets to reduce origin load and improve response times for the platform's web interface.
Security & Compliance: Implemented AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall) to protect the platform against common web exploits, bot attacks, and fraud attempts. WAF rules were configured to meet fintech security requirements, including rate limiting for authentication endpoints, geographic restrictions, and protection against OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with financial services regulations.
DevOps Transformation: Established modern CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and deployment processes, significantly improving development velocity and code quality.
Infrastructure as Code: Implemented infrastructure automation using modern DevOps practices, ensuring consistent and repeatable deployments across environments.
Monitoring & Observability: Set up comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions to provide visibility into application performance and system health.
Results and Benefits
Development Agility: Faster feature delivery through containerized microservices architecture
Operational Efficiency: Reduced infrastructure management overhead through cloud-native services
